Contra has plenty to offer but lacks in depth and story. If you like solid fun with your friends and are looking for a good multiplayer challenge you are looking at the right game.
The graphics in Contra were quite impressive from lush green platforms to tall layered mountains. The enemies and characters are often easy enough not to get confused while scrolling up or to the right. Bosses look great with plenty of graphical variety.
Contra as a whole seems repetitive, however, This game knows how to keep the action coming and with one hit you die! This being said the difficulty is rather high for players lacking reaction time. Multiplayer is amazing with the downside that if you move too fast or too slow you could end up being killed or killing your teammate.
This game hates new comers. Contra is a very fast paced tricky shooter that will punish you the whole way for any if not all mistakes. The rewards are minor so you better make sure you are on point with your jumps, prone and aim.
This is one of the greatest aspects of Contra. Is pumps you full of adrenaline filled synth guitars and never holds back. Sound effects are also on point as you feel you are shooting guns and attacking enemies as they explode in front of you.
The main story is pretty simple, In 2633, the evil Red Falcon Organization have set a base on the Galuga archipelago near New Zealand in a plot to conquer the world. Two commandos, Bill Rizer and Lance Bean of the Contra unit (an elite group of soldiers specializing in guerrilla warfare), are sent to the island to destroy the enemy forces and uncover the true nature of the alien entity controlling them. Ironically you see very little of this apart from the random soldiers, aliens and you start on an island.
This was a bit conflicting as I find the content is there but it’s more so in the gameplay over what you can do in the game itself. You have two options one or two players and play the game front to back.
